Third Ward Monday Senior Golf League
The Third Warders Monday Senior Golf League was established in 2017 and plays Monday afternoons at Deerwood. The League President is Gerry 'Swi' Matecki assisted by Paul 'Bones' Borowiec (Secretary) and Matty Rusin (Treasurer).
SEASON EIGHT OFFICIALLY CLOSED - BANQUET AT TW CLUB A HUGE SUCCESS!!
Our 2024 season is now completed. Congratulations to our new champions - Team Bielski / Waldo / Moose. They become our 8th different champion in the 8 years of the Monday league existence. Congratulations also go out to the champions of the Wednesday league - Team Donn Schubert / Mark Kielaszek. Our plan was to have these champions square off in a match to determine the overall TW Senior Champion for 2024. Unfortunately, Mark has developed a serious health issue requiring surgery and is unable to play anymore in 2024. After various discussions among the officers of the two leagues, it has been decided that these champions will play their match at the beginning of the 2025 season (Mark is anticipated to be well enough to play by that time). We wish him the best as he recovers from his surgery.
All final statistics for the Monday league can be found in this website - final standings, averages and handicaps. These averages and handicaps are based on actual scores (or average if a player did not play a particular week) for the entire 2024 season and will be used for the first segment of the 2025 season for returning players. A listing of all champions for our 8 years of existence can be found as well.
To celebrate our successful season, our annual banquet was held at the TW Club on Monday Sept. 23rd. This banquet was a combined event for our Monday and Wednesday Leagues and was very well attended. Besides an open bar provided by the Club, a delicious meal was served by Jim Fingerlow (Dave's brother) of 'Just Say Cheesecake'. A great time was had by all attendees. At this banquet, Our champions for the two leagues were presented with their Champions' polo shirts. They will also have their names engraved on the Champions Plaque for each league. The plaque for the overall champion will be engraved next year after their match is played.
So... that brings to a close another great season. Plans for the 2025 season will begin shortly after the New Year. To start, Swi will send out an e-mail requesting confirmation of who is coming back for the Monday league - team members and subs. It will be essential that each team and sub respond so that our team and sub list can be finalized. Our plan at this time is to keep the number of teams to 18. Also, remember to pay your 2025 TW Club dues by Super Bowl Sunday (or else you'll have to pay an additional penalty fee if paid late). Only paid TW Club members can participate in our leagues - no exceptions. Also remember to support the Club over the off season - still the finest bar in town.
Enjoy the off season, stay safe. Go Bills!! See you all in the New Year!
